This online course is run by the Researcher Academy and forms part of the Research Supervisor Seminar Series

The Researcher Academy courses are very popular and the majority are run in both semesters to give you the opportunity to attend at a time of the year that suits you. 

Target Audience: University staff involved in research supervision (either formally or informally)

Course Description:

Working within intra- or inter-disciplinary teams can have challenges ranging from discipline specific language barriers to discipline cultural differences. When supervising in this context there can be additional challenges due to differing styles in supervision practices as well as the diverse needs for training across the supervision team as well as for the PGR student. Carol Eastwick (Engineering), who has supervised research in collaboration with international campuses as well as in cross-disciplinary and cross-university contexts, will discuss experiences of resolving these challenges. Attendees are also welcome to bring their own challenges to discuss in a Q&A session or can provide anonymised case studies for discussion within this workshop.
