This in-person course is run by the Researcher Academy
The Researcher Academy courses are very popular and the majority are run in both semesters to give you the opportunity to attend at a time of the year that suits you.
Important Note: This is not a training course, but a concentrated period for writing.
Target audience: Postgraduate Research Students and Early Career Research Staff only.
Structure:
This 1-day writing session is for postgraduate research students and is the perfect opportunity to block out dedicated time in your diary, away from meetings and distractions, to focus 100% on completing your writing. Your writing project may be your thesis, a research publication or a research report, for example.
You can attend the session irrespective of the current stage of the writing project; idea generation, planning, writing, editing, proofing, and rewriting. The only requirement is that you have a clear aim and goal(s) for the day. You can register for as many sessions as you need.
This focussed writing session is for you to ring-fence your time to make significant progress with your writing project whilst surrounded by fellow researchers with the same ambition.
You will need to have:
Timeline of the day:
9.30-10.00: Orientation and goal setting
10:00-12.00: Writing block 1
12.30- 13.30: Lunch break
13.30-15:30: Writing block 2
15.30-15:45: Goal reflection
Accessing the Course
You should plan to be in the space from 09:30-16:00 for the entire day to be marked as ‘attended’ for your training record. To avoid disruption, you will not be permitted to leave the space during the writing sessions and return at any point.
