Team Researcher Academy

This online course is run by the Researcher Academy

The Researcher Academy courses are very popular and the majority are run in both semesters to give you the opportunity to attend at a time of the year that suits you. Semester 1 courses will be available for booking from the second week of October and Semester 2 courses from the second week of February.

Target Audience: PGRs and ECRs in the faculties of Eng, M&HS and Sci

This course provides an introduction to the surface chemical characterisation technique X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPSand is intended for novice users of this instrumentation.

The course will cover:

  • Introduction to XPS theory and instrumentation (basics and capabilities)
  • Example analysis of XPS data for ‘real’ samples.
Learning outcomes:
  • Familiarisation with the XPS facilities available at the nmRC and elsewhere
  • Theoretical basis for techniques based on XPS
  • Functionality of specific instrumentation
  • Practical applications of XPS

This course will be delivered through a blended approach including asynchronous and synchronous deliveryThe scheduled timings for this course are for the synchronous delivery only and the asynchronous delivery must be completed in advanceThe overall length of course 120 minutes.
