Course aims

This online webinar (delivered via MS Teams) will introduce the concept of research impact and highlight tools which capture this data. 

Target audience

Researchers or research enabling staff who are looking to track the wider impact of research at the University of Nottingham.

Description

How do you interpret the term ‘research impact’? A policy or patent citation, peer review activities, scholarly citation, or online mentions?

This online session will introduce the concept of research impact, initially covering what it is and what forms it can take. Session attendees will be presented with some research impact case studies and then introduced to various platforms which contain research impact data and offer tips on how to interpret the data held. Lastly, we will look at how research impact data can be measured at both a researcher and institutional level.

  • Increased awareness of which tools can track research impact
  • Appreciate how visibility of research impact is important for research assessment
  • Understand how to use and interpret research impact data responsibly
