Realising Strengths session for Line managers
Duration 2 Hours
Team Professional Development

Please note: this course is for line managers only, but all staff (whether line managers or not) are welcome to book onto the main version of this course, titled “Realising your Strengths”.

This course will cover how to identify and harness your unique strengths to lead and develop yourself and others more effectively. You will also explore how your strengths relate to your role as a manager, as well as how to spot strengths in your team and plan work in a way that maximises these strengths.

Understanding what energises yourself and others is key to building confidence, resilience, and purpose in your work. As human beings, we are not static, our strengths evolve, and learning to use them wisely helps us adapt and flourish.

This workshop relates to the “Communication”, “Self-leadership” and “Adaptability” competencies outlined in the Competency Framework.

Learning outcomes:

  • Understand what strengths are, how to spot them, their benefits and how they may differ from skills
  • Identify and explore some of your strengths and how they help mitigate what drains you, with consideration of how they relate to your role as a manager
  • Identify actionable next steps to make the most of your strengths and those of your team

Please be aware that this workshop is an interactive session with group and pair exercises. You do not have to share anything you are not comfortable with but bear in mind you will be asked to reflect on your own experiences.

Pre-work: before the session, you must complete a Strengths Profile questionnaire which will be sent to you in advance of the session. After completing it, you will receive a report that you will need to bring at the session as you will need to use it as part of the session activities.
