Research Supervisor Seminar Series: Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in PGR recruitment, training and career progression
Target Audience: University staff involved in research supervision (either formally or informally)
Process: Webinar - Panel presentations and discussion
This session will present an overview of the equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) values and principles with a particular focus on PhD and postdoctoral researcher recruitment, training, mentoring and career progression. We will explore some of the best practices in PGR recruitment from the University of Nottingham and across the sector. The session will cover data-driven approaches to EDI in UKRI funded PhD studentships and research council fellowships targeted at the postdoctoral level. PGRs from the marginalised groups face many challenges during their time with us, and this session will cover an overview of what supervisors can do to be aware of those challenges and help provide a supportive and nurturing environment to allow them to flourish. There will also be an interactive element in this session to discuss various points of views from supervisors and researchers.
