Supervisors play a pivotal role in the development and success of postgraduate researchers (PGRs). In addition to providing expert disciplinary guidance and upholding academic standards, supervisors offer pastoral support, advise on professional development, and support PGRs in progressing through key milestones of their doctoral studies. As mentors, supervisors are often the most valued source of professional guidance for their PGRs.
This session will provide an overview of the opportunities available to PGRs through the Researcher Academy, alongside the wider professional services with which we collaborate.
The session will cover:
This session is suitable for all supervisors, from those new to the University of Nottingham to experienced supervisors seeking to further enhance their knowledge of the support available for their PGRs.
This session is part of the Supervisor Seminar Series, providing supervisors with the opportunity to discuss experiences and processes and reflect on supervisory practice.
This session is part of the RSVP project, which aims to transform the culture and practice of research supervision across the UK. RSVP is a £4.6M Research England project, involving over 50 research organisations from the UK and beyond. The project has the backing of most major UK research funders and was extensively referenced in UKRI's recent New deal for postgraduate research. By participating in this session and providing feedback, your views can influence our national programme of supervisor development.
