Aims and Objectives:

Participants will be given the opportunity to:

  • Know the legal requirements relating to risk assessment


  • Understand the aims of carrying out risk assessment


  • Become familiar with the University's risk assessment procedure


Who should attend: Anyone who is involved in carrying out risk assessment of work activities. This course is aimed at employees of the University but it is open to postgraduate students if space permits. Please note that nominations for the course are reviewed by the Safety Office and priority will be given to members of staff. Students will be notified if it is not possible for them to attend a particular date because of demand from staff.


Please note:

If you book a place on this course and fail to attend or fail to give 48 hours notice of cancellation there will be a charge to cover costs. The charge is dependent on the cost of the course to the University.

Please note:  If you are intending to travel by car to the training venue, please allow sufficient time to locate a parking space and to walk to the training venue, as parking may not be available immediately adjacent.


This course is normally run twice per year and is open to staff from any School or Professional Service. If dates for forthcoming courses are not displayed below, we will be waiting for room allocations from Central Timetabling and the dates will posted as soon as we receive confirmation of the location (typically late August).
