Please complete "Introduction to How Students Learn" before taking this course. 

Overview 

This course is designed to help you take control of your career development through self-leadership by enhancing your self-awareness and equipping you with practical tools to set actionable goals aligned with your career plans. Additionally, you will explore future learning opportunities to support your ongoing professional growth. By attending, you will gain the skills and confidence needed to proactively manage your early career aspirations. 

Learning Outcomes  

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:  

  • Describe how self-leadership can support your career success  
  • Use tools to develop greater self-awareness and identify your strengths and weaknesses 
  • Create clear actionable goals that align with your future career plans 
  • Be aware of future learning opportunities that will support you in achieving your future career goals  

Please note: that this is an interactive session, and active participation is expected throughout all activities, including breakout rooms. To get the most out of the session, we recommend joining from an environment where you can fully engage.  
 

Attendance: Participants are required to attend a minimum of 90% of any synchronous online training course in order to be marked as "Attended." Attendance is tracked through the attendance record generated by Microsoft Teams, which monitors login times and the duration of attendance in the session. Who should attend?  

Staff and PGR’s who are at the beginning of your teaching journey. You may be a:  

  • Newly appointed PGTA 
  • PGR 
  • Demonstrator 
  • Technician 
  • Anyone who has aspects of delivery or support of teaching and learning in their role and is new to teaching. E.g. roles such as: librarians, careers advisors, education and student engagement, residential experience, support and wellbeing, counselling, and staff involved with training and development.
