Target audience

Postgraduate research students and research staff undertaking a systematic or scoping review.

Pre-requisites

Some experience of advanced literature searching.

Course description

This session will explore how to search different types of grey literature effectively, explain the importance of citation searching, discuss the pros and cons of using generative AI tools, and give an overview of tools that support the systematic review workflow. Please note: It will not cover the basics of literature searching and searching Medline.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course, you will:

  • Have an awareness of grey literature resources and how to search them effectively
  • Understand how to search for citations
  • Have an awareness of the pros and cons of using generative AI tools in evidence synthesis
  • Be familiar with some of the key workflow tools used in systematic reviews

Process

This is a one-hour online course delivered via Microsoft Teams and consists of a presentation with some interaction.
