Calibre Programme
Duration 3 days
Team Professional Development

This is a series of linked workshops to finalise the 2020 Calibre programme, which has been disrupted by COVID lockdowns. 2020 programme participants are invited to 3 sequential workshops which build from a review of past materials, through leadership approaches and legal frameworks towards optional 1:1 sessions for project support and completion.

Participants will be expected to be present at each session.

Aims

This three day programme is tailored to reflect the challenges and experiences of disabled staff from any grade or job family  It is useful for anyone thinking about personal or career development, or wanting to manage work situations more proactively.  The programme is open to staff from the University of Nottingham and other institutions in the East Midland region, whether or not you have declared your disability.

Participants should commit to all 3 sessions.

This is a bespoke programme programme of 3 interlinked workshops which look at disability, career management and leadership (self and others) from different perspectives and give participants the chance to work together and define and understand issues for themselves  It is tailored to address the distinct, and often subtle, barriers in Higher Education which disabled staff must overcome.

The social model of disability is at the heart of the process, recognising an individual’s key strengths to build personal development.

Calibre is an ILM endorsed programme (level 2) and there is a small personal project to complete after the workshops, for which there is ongoing support.  You will be invited to a certificate awards ceremony in October, which is an opportunity for the institution to learn about projects, for participants to network and to meet previous programme participants.

In a recent focus group participants reported that the programme leader was "amazing, inspiring, warm and supportive", that they "no longer felt alone" and that the programme had helped to empower them, build confidence and had helped individuals to feel more positive about working and everyday life.

If you have an undeclared disability and are interested in the programme, or you have a general query please contact Katharine.Kadio@nottingham.ac.uk

Pre-Requisites This programme is for disabled staff (with disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010). Participants should commit to all 3 sessions.
