Course Description:

This half day small group course is designed to help demonstrators develop skills in managing practical laboratory and computing classes in Science and Engineering.

Learning Outcomes:

Participants will:
  • Consider the demonstrator's role before, during and after the practical.
  • Compare strategies for encouraging effective learning.
  • Review an example of working with undergraduate students in a practical situation.
  • Look at ways of tackling some common problems in laboratory classes.

This course will be run by a Professional Development (Learning and Teaching) colleague.

Who should attend?

Postgraduate research students who are involved in teaching practical laboratory or computing classes in Science and Engineering.
