Who should attend: All newly appointed Health and Safety Coordinators and Assistants

 

Overall aim of the training: to provide participants with a good understanding of the health and safety framework at the University and their role within it

Learning Outcomes:

Participants will understand

  • the key drivers and legal framework for proactive health and safety management
  • the University’s Health and Safety Management System (Plan Do Check Act) and how it applies to their Business Unit
  • what their role involves and how to fulfil it
  • the key health and safety topics and university requirements
  • how to seek further advice and support within the University

 

Training format: Trainers will employ a combination of formal presentation and group work to best enable participants to achieve the learning outcomes.

 

Course preparation: Prior to attending the course, participants should familiarise themselves with the key health and safety arrangements in place within their business unit.

 

They should also have an awareness of the key University health and safety information available via the following links: Health and Safety Website and, A to Z of Topics.

  • Fire Safety Training
  • Incident Reporting and Investigation
  • DSE Assessor Training
