Microsoft PowerPoint: Foundation of Slideshow Presentations

Everyone knows how to create a PowerPoint presentation, right?  Well erm, you may have used PowerPoint before, but have you used it effectively - probably not!?

In this course, you will learn how to produce slideshow presentations that have visually compelling designs, standardised structure, and consistent formatting.  This will mean that it's far easier to add content without everything going "out of line" (Sound familiar?) - but remember, don't overload your presentations, less is more!

By utilising these design principles you will then be able to build on these techniques to use the more advanced features of Microsoft PowerPoint to produce amazing slideshow presentations.

The recommended follow-on course to this is Microsoft PowerPoint Advanced Multimedia Enhancements.

At the completion of this course you should be able to:

  • Create a new presentation and insert text onto a slide and apply basic formatting

  • Work with the slide layout placeholders to ensure consistency throughout your presentation

  • Insert and edit images

  • Create and work with tables and charts

  • View and modify slide masters and themes including downloading the University standard PowerPoint template to control Headers and Footers, positioning, background, and fonts for all slides

  • Use printing features to produce slides, speaker notes, and handouts, etc
