Webinar: Planning a social media campaign

Who should attend

Academics with reasonable knowledge/experience of social media, who want to make use of this to support a specific policy impact or public engagement campaign based on their research.

This webinar session is primarily intended for staff based in UNNC and UNM, but UK-based staff are also welcome to join.

Learning Outcomes

This 2 hour webinar will take you through the process of planning a social media campaign to support your policy impact or public engagement work, from thinking about the journey you want to take your audience on to evaluating the success of the campaign. It will help you to think clearly and strategically about how you use social media to share your research and boost its impact.

Note that the content of this session is based mainly on social media in the UK, which is very different from those in Malaysia and particularly in China. We will adapt the content as far as possible and aim to focus on general good practice to make the session useful for colleagues in UNNC and UNM.

Participants will:

  • Learn how to map their target audience’s ‘user journey’
  • Learn what kind of content works well on social media, and how to create good quality content
  • Explore the use of data visualisation and imagery for social media campaigns
  • Learn about how to track the effectiveness of your social media campaign
  • Learn about easy to use tools to further develop your campaign and where to go for more support
