Improvement practitioner 1: An introduction to Lean six sigma - Yellow Belt
Duration 1 day
Team Getting in Shape Team

2024 update:

We have been recently celebrating some job promotions for colleagues moving to other areas of UoN. Unfortunately all the start dates have fallen across Jan/Feb 2024 meaning in the short-term the Lean team is running at a 75% reduction in team capacity.

We have therefore had to make some tough  decisions and have temporarily removed any 2024 central short courses that weren't already filled. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause and we will get central courses open again as soon as we are able.

We may be able to offer training to any teams/depts (minimum 10 delegates) that are planning specific improvement projects where training may support this to launch if so please get in touch with us here.

Who should attend:

The course is open to all University staff and Postgraduates.

Course Aim:

This course is designed to give participants a basic introduction to some of the improvement tools and methodologies of Lean six sigma thinking.  The interactive day uses a set of University scenarios to demonstrate how the application of Lean six sigma can achieve understanding, recognition and delivery of opportunities across any organised area.

Learning outcomes
:

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Gain a basic knowledge of Lean six sigma methodology and the thinking that underpins it
  • Understand and practice a series of tools that generate sustainable improvement outcomes
  • Explore where tools and techniques can be applied in their own working environments to bring about sustainable improvements in their processes and ways of working

The course is a foundation for our Lean courses. Please see the Getting in Shape SharePoint site for more information on the courses offered by the Getting in Shape team: https://uniofnottm.sharepoint.com/sites/GettingInShape-InvestinginOurFuture
