Session aims and Objectives:

How many hours a week do you spend reading?

When did you last learn a new technique to improve your reading?

What could you do with the extra time if you doubled or tripled your reading speed?

Take some time to learn new techniques and improve your efficiency.

This course has two aspects to it, to learn how to read faster and also how to make quick decisions about what to read by previewing your documents.

Most people at least double their reading speed with the average increase being 270% of the initial reading speed. With a small amount of work afterwards this is a skill that can be used whenever you need it.  The course is structured to help ensure that you learn the skills so that you can read naturally again – just three times as fast! Some of  the materials for the course can be found at http://www.uolearn.com/speedreading/speedreading.html

Aim:  To increase your reading speed whilst retaining understanding.

Objectives:

This session will help participants to:

  • Measure their initial reading speed and comprehension;

  • Consider how they read and what limits their current speed;

  • Learn and practise techniques of speed reading;

  • Set objectives for reading;

  • Previewing and timing of reviews of documents;

  • Design an individual learning programme to follow after the workshop.
