Webinar: Introduction to Policy Impact 

Who should attend 

Academics and research staff interested in finding out how to influence policy makers based on their research findings, and APM staff whose roles include supporting academics on impact work. 

This webinar session is primarily intended for staff based in UNNC and UNM, but UK-based staff are also welcome to join. Note that the content of the session is built around UK policy processes, so it will be of particular interest to staff looking to have policy impact in the UK. However many of the core areas covered are applicable in other national policy contexts. 

Learning Outcomes 

This 2 hour webinar will explain why academics should consider engaging with policy; introduce the principles of policy impact; and explore some handy tips and tools to help you begin to put your policy impact work into practice. 

 
Participants will: 

  • Learn key planning tools for policy impact; 
  • Learn how to identify their policy audiences and tailor their messages 
  • Explore some of the channels they might use for policy impact 
  • Gain insight into how to plan for evaluation and evidencing 
  • Learn where to go for further support and more in-depth advice
