Microsoft Word: Managing Long Documents

Learning Outcomes:

At the completion of this course you should be able to:

  • Create a structure for a long document to aid automation (eg table of contents, page and section numbering, captions and references)
  • Use a range of formatting techniques to position text and paragraphs
  • Define and modify multi-level lists
  • Apply and manage styles
  • Change or add levels in a table of contents
  • Learn how to work with section breaks
  • Customise number formatting across sections/chapters in footers
  • Work with captions
  • Create and delete cross-references
  • Working with the navigation view and collapsing document headings

Pre-Requisites:
The course is designed to build on the skills acquired as part of the “Microsoft Word – Foundation of Document Creation” course. 
Therefore you are strongly recommended to attend this course, or be confident that you can demonstrate proficiency in these skills.

To participate in this session you will need to have the latest version of Microsoft Office installed on your device before the session starts. If you are unsure if you have the latest version please see the Install Office Updates web page.  This session will focus on the Windows version of Microsoft Office.
