As the academic year starts and we build new relationships with students, it timely to hear some top tips from experienced colleagues. They will share general advice and personal insights from supervising doctoral students. This session is aimed at newer doctoral supervisors, but more experienced colleagues who wish to refresh or reflect upon their own practice are equally welcome. It is also aimed at colleagues from any school whose field is encompassed by Humanities, Arts and Social Science (HASS) where relationships with doctoral students are generally characterised by individual student projects and regular but infrequent formal meetings. (As compared with group projects and frequent but often brief or informal contact in lab-based disciplines. There is a separate Top tips seminar session for STEM).
