Developing personal skills for research supervision. Listening coaching and understanding yourself.
What might be going on when supervision grinds to a halt, breaks down or a student stops attending? Through practical exploration and reflection on the use of listening, coaching and communication skills we will consider ways in which Supervisors can facilitate enquiry and help to discover what is happening and, or, what is happening when nothing seems to be happening in the supervisory relationship. Using participants’ experiences of supervision and other material we will explore how to approach difficulties that hinder the supervision process and potentially affect academic progress.
