Inspection & Maintenance of Gas Systems

Introduction:

- Aims and objectives

- Legal background

- Additional guidance, BCGA, UoN, etc.

Inspection of fixed and portable gas systems including -

- Programmed exchange of system components such as regulators, hoses, flame arrestors, etc.

- Annual visual examination of low pressure components such as flashback arrestors, hoses & fasteners, etc. (practical)

- Regulator creep test

- Leak detection

Record keeping

- What records should be kept following inspection


Please note it is a prerequisite that you have attended the Safe Handling and Use of Gas Cylinders course before attending this course.

There will be no cost attached to this course at this time.


Who should attend - persons knowledgeable about and experienced in the use of laboratory gas systems within the work area that they will be responsible for. Those who wish to develop and implement a planned maintenance regime, including periodic visual inspection and functional checks

You will be required to wear safety footwear and safety spectacles on this course. Please bring the footwear and spectacles with you.

The course does not cover refurbishment and repair of components, nor statutorily required "thorough examinations" under the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations should these be required - these are carried out by the engineering inspector from the insurance company who is the "Competent Person" for this.

Please note:  If you are intending to travel by car to the training venue, please allow sufficient time to locate a parking space and to walk to the training venue, as parking may not be available immediately adjacent.
