Course Description:

In this half-day participative workshop you should be able to consider the purpose and practice of marking and assessment. This session will consist of tutor input together with small group work and marking exercises.

Learning Outcomes:

Participants will be given an opportunity to:

  • Consider the use and purpose of assessment
  • Explore different types of assessment and assessment criteria
  • Engage in marking exercises
  • Explore practical ways to provide feedback to students
  • Explore problems encountered when assessing students' work and suggestions for dealing with them

This course will be run by a Professional Development (Learning and Teaching) colleague.

Who should attend?

All those within the arts and humanities disciplines who are new to marking and assessing students' work.
