Target audience

Postgraduate Research Students and Research Staff in Faculty of M&HS

This course is part of the M&HS Faculty Training Programme and N-trans training programme, which are convened by Researcher Academy.

Pre-requisites

The course involves practical application in  STATA; attendees should have a good working knowledge of basic statistics.

Participants must hold or have access to a Stata licence, without this you will not be able to participate in the course. Stata is available as a University-wide site licence on all networked PCs/laptops (search for programmes on your device).

Course Description

This course will provide a basic introduction to using the Stata software for statistical analysis. This course is a stand alone, online learning course, you should work through the materials at your own pace, but ideally completely within 3 months of accessing the course materials. The course materials are accessed via the Moodle https://moodle.nottingham.ac.uk/course/view.php?id=51555.

Learning outcomes
By completing this course you will have:
• Become familiar with the layout and functions of STATA
• Learnt how to perform basic tasks such as entering data and coding variables as well as generating graphs and descriptive statistics
• Practised these tasks using a test dataset
• Learnt how to perform some statistical tests
