This course is delivered by the Researcher Academy

Title

Research Supervisor Seminar Series :
Helping research students write - without writing it for them

Target Audience

University staff involved in research supervision (either formally or informally)

Process

A series of short talks followed by Q&A or workshop sessions.

Course Description

In this session Dr Stephen Timmons will invite you to think initially about why it is so important for you as supervisors to get research students into the habit of writing, and to start this early in the process of the Ph.D. Together you will also consider what kinds of things students need to write and which they may need help with. The majority of the session will be spent on discussing strategies for encouraging good academic writing, and thinking about how these need to be adapted for particular students.

Speaker

Dr Stephen Timmons, Business School
