In this session, Graham Thompson will draw on his experience of recruiting and supervising doctoral students in the Faculty of Arts to discuss the role academics can play in the process that turns prospective students into registered students. Topics for discussion include: reaching out to potential applicants; responding to speculative applicants; advising and supporting applicants in writing research and funding proposals; and making applicants feel part of the University before their registration.
