Co-supervision is the now the expected practice within Doctoral Research supervision here at the University of Nottingham. However, research and anecdotal reports reveal that models of practice can be highly individualised, and range from the highly collaborative and communicative to the disassociated and power-infused. In the UK’s model of private small team supervision it can be difficult for supervisors to get an insight into positive models of co-supervision; focus tends to be on solving problems rather than preventing them. Dr Joel Segal and Prof Stuart Marsh (Associate Dean of Researcher Academy for Engineering) will share the benefit of their experiences of co-supervising to give tips and suggestions on developing good co-supervisory relations. There will be an opportunity for you to ask questions.
